SRD HoLywood Productions, LLC was initially founded in 2005 under a different name and state by Sherry Wright.  It was birthed out of her experience as a community playwright.  She penned her first play in 2002 and it made its debut performance in 2003 at her then, church O'Fallon Apostolic Assembly under Bishop Gregory Wells, Sr.  In 2004, she mounted the play for the stage (outside of the church) and began making history in various venues, cities, and states.

Ms. Sherry, as commonly known by her theatre friends has appeared in several magazines, and even made Newspaper headlines with her plays "Unpleasant Excitement" and "Circle of Influence". As an added perk, "Circle of Influence" was selected by the Atlanta Black Theatre Festival for a stage reading in Atlanta, GA.  This amazingly great honor afforded the cast and Ms. Sherry the opportunity to travel to Atlanta, stay in hotels, and meet Hollywood celebrities such as: T'Keyah Crystal Keymáh from "Cosby" & "That's So Raven", Janet Hubert from "Fresh Prince", Dick Gregory, Melba Moore, and Theatre Legend, Pearl Cleage, an African-American playwright.

While that great honor was most inspiring, her first great honor happened during rehearsal for her play entitled "Unpleasant Excitement".  Unbeknownst to her Jason Bailey, a Staff Writer for The Saint Louis Argus Newspaper walked in to do an exclusive interview with her.  The half-page story of her new found success as a community playwright appeared in the next issue of that paper. This accomplishment encouraged her to continue her dream as a playwright.

As a self-taught theatre practitioner, Ms. Sherry has experienced good success with her work and continued to build on that success with all of her work such as: Single Wives, Dancing on the Edge, Unpleasant Excitement, Color of Rain, Have I Become Your Enemy, STILL, and two short films: Matters of the Heart and Wear Black.

Audience viewers have witnessed her work in various venues and states such as: Harris-Stowe State University (St. Louis, MO), Missouri Black History Museum (St. Louis, MO), Southern Illinois University (Edwardsville, IL) Southwestern Illinois College (Belleville, IL), and University of Missouri-St. Louis (Missouri) to name a few. Aside from experiencing good success, SRD has also experienced its share of challenges causing her to take unplanned hiatus' beginning with the loss of her two parents (Willie and Mary Wright) to cancer.

Following her loss, it took many years to regain her motivation. As life would have it, she later relocated to Central Texas in 2018 and planned to return to her position as a Theatre Practitioner. Unfortunately, that plan along with the rest of the world was placed on "pause" after being hit with the untimely interruption of a pandemic coined as COVID 19.

As a Licensed and Ordained Evangelist, she leaves nothing to coincidence, but rather believes that everything happens just as and when it should.

ALL NEW!
Fast-forwarding to 2023, Ms. Sherry and her team are returning to the arts in theatre and film bigger, and better than ever before. Realizing that her latter is greater than her former days, SRD is returning under its new name "SRD HoLywood Productions, LLC" in a new state and is ready to change the trajectory of lives with its positive and inspirational productions.

SRD is very intentional about creating stronger families and communities. Its presentation on real life, controversial and emotionally-draining situations often show how faith is challenged when life happens. The power of using the reality of life's moral hazards played out on stage culminates a true demonstration of the Centerpiece of Love, which ultimately and positively affect lives both on and off the stage.

SRD is branding itself in advance for its debut performance that is set to premiere in the 1st quarter of 2025.  SRD HoLywood Productions, LLC can be found in the 2023 February/March (page 47) and August/September (page 56) issues of the Tex Appeal Magazine with a distribution of 30,000 copies in print in Central Texas (CTX). You can pick up a copy in Wal-Mart and HEB in the Temple, Belton, Harker Heights, and Killeen areas.  To create more visibility SRD expects to make other headline appearances in the future before its premiere show.

Local talent can expect information to circulate regarding Auditions for an opportunity to perform in one of the upcoming productions. With SRD, artists can expect to cultivate their gifts and grow personal audiences in the process.
