A Monologue (Greek root word) is a speech delivered by one person; a long one-sided conversation, in other words it means “speaking alone”. In theatre, actors may have an internal monologue where they talk to him or herself to better understand some dilemma.

The opposite of that is a dialogue - two people that talk back and forth.

TIPS FOR BEGINNERS:

Note: Monologues should be no longer than 1 min; 30 sec long.  Likewise, your monologues should be fully memorized!  Finally, it is a good idea to have two monologues of opposite genres (e.g. Comedy, Contemporary, and/or classical) in case the casting crew would like to see range.

Some (not all) auditions may be recorded.

Auditions that are recorded will depend on location. For instance, if auditions are held in Austin, TX they will be recorded in a studio. If they are held at another location they may, or may not be recorded.

If recorded it will be posted on YouTube @sherrywrightseedsforyou, and aired on local cable TV stations in Central Texas.

Channels: 10, 11, & 16
No, it is not a deal-breaker.  However, if you have one it will increase positive visibility and enhance your craft.  Professional headshots will put you out there more (if that is your goal).  It is preferred for use in advertisement.

If you do not have a professional headshot, be selective in what you choose to use for the production. Meaning, use the best presentation of yourself that you can find. Likewise, it is helpful to the casting crew as it helps them remember who you are during the selection process.

If you find the experience in the "arts" to be something that you would like to advance in, work on getting a professional photo for future productions.

Note: Feel free to purchase photos from our photographer for future use (if interested).
Yes indeed!  You do not have to have expensive equipment to do it. Your phone will do just fine; especially if you are new to the acting arena.  You have the option to present live dialogue by using a "live" reader (off-camera), or perform a monologue.

All self-tapes are due by the 9:59 p.m. on the night of the live audition.

Hello Loves! I'm Sherry Wright, Founder of SRD HOLYWOOD PRODUCTIONS & Talk Show host of SEEDS FOR YOU on YouTube @sherrywrightseedsforyou, which by the way can also be seen on Cable Television: Channels 10, 11, & 16.

I am the proud mother of two adult daughters, and Nana to five extraordinary grand-loves.

Educationally, I have an Associate of Applied Science degree from a junior college and hold a Bachelor of Arts degree from Saint Louis University, a Jesuit institution that offers top-notch education to nearly 13,000 students. Ministerially, I am a licensed and ordained minister in the office of an Evangelist. I am a former Chaplain of Barnes Jewish Hospital (Largest hospital in Missouri). I am also a graduate of Bethesda Temple Bible Institute (Missouri), and Sonship School of the Firstborn (Texas).

As a writer, I am a former blogger of Saint Louis University where I expressed my views on a myriad of topics.  Likewise, I was featured in the University Magazine for untraditional students descriptively known as "Busy Adults".  As an avid writer, I am a Theatre Practitioner of full-length stage plays.

If you read our ABOUT SRD page you know that I penned my debut production "Single Wives" in 2002 and mounted it for the stage for its premiere performance in 2003, which set the wheels to rolling for my other works that afforded my cast of "Circle of Influence" and me the opportunity to grow and experience the opportunity to travel and meet celebrities in Atlanta, GA.

Additionally, you know that my film work "Wear Black" and "Matters of the Heart" was written and directed for BET (Black Entertainment Television) competitions.  My theatre and film work speaks to real life situations such as abortion, infidelity, addictions, domestic violence, and so much more. While some subject matters are of a serious nature we offer quality productions that are suitable for all audiences.

My proudest memories remind me of the opportunity to travel from St. Louis to Atlanta for the stage reading of my play entitled, "Circle of Influence". Meeting Hollywood celebrities like T'Keyah Crystal Keymah from "Cosby" & "That's So Raven", Janet Hubert from "Fresh Prince", Dick Gregory, Melba Moore, and Theatre Legend Pearl Cleage will not soon be forgotten.  We had no idea what to expect, but the coveted experience to go.

My experiences as a writer has been kind to me and inspired me to rise to the next level of my craft. Even though the pandemic delayed the process it was never forgotten or cancelled. In actuality, the pandemic proved to be a historical portal for this new beginning. This created the perfect time to execute plans and carry out the legwork necessary to bring my vision to fruition.

SRD HOLYWOOD PRODUCTIONS, LLC is designed to make a difference in the lives of others as a talent or viewer.  Further, as a contributing writer of a published book entitled "Lessons for Living – Heroes of Faith" I am interested to begin blogging again as a freelance writer.  If it is to be it will afford me the opportunity to refine and perfect my gift as a writer. The ultimate goal is to receive compensation for doing something I enjoy.  This, of course, will be reserved for moments called "spare time".

Well that's my time folks, I have to get back to business so I will catch up with you on my YouTube channel @sherrywrightseedsforyou.

Final note, be sure to watch for our "recorded" auditions where you can audition for a chance to be cast in one of our productions, or watch them on YouTube and/or Cable TV.

See you there!
SRD HoLywood Productions, LLC was initially founded in 2005 under a different name and state by Sherry Wright.  It was birthed out of her experience as a community playwright.  She penned her first play in 2002 and it made its debut performance in 2003 at her then, church O'Fallon Apostolic Assembly under Bishop Gregory Wells, Sr.  In 2004, she mounted the play for the stage (outside of the church) and began making history in various venues, cities, and states.

Ms. Sherry, as commonly known by her theatre friends has appeared in several magazines, and even made Newspaper headlines with her plays "Unpleasant Excitement" and "Circle of Influence". As an added perk, "Circle of Influence" was selected by the Atlanta Black Theatre Festival for a stage reading in Atlanta, GA.  This amazingly great honor afforded the cast and Ms. Sherry the opportunity to travel to Atlanta, stay in hotels, and meet Hollywood celebrities such as: T'Keyah Crystal Keymáh from "Cosby" & "That's So Raven", Janet Hubert from "Fresh Prince", Dick Gregory, Melba Moore, and Theatre Legend, Pearl Cleage, an African-American playwright.

While that great honor was most inspiring, her first great honor happened during rehearsal for her play entitled "Unpleasant Excitement".  Unbeknownst to her Jason Bailey, a Staff Writer for The Saint Louis Argus Newspaper walked in to do an exclusive interview with her.  The half-page story of her new found success as a community playwright appeared in the next issue of that paper. This accomplishment encouraged her to continue her dream as a playwright.

As a self-taught theatre practitioner, Ms. Sherry has experienced good success with her work and continued to build on that success with all of her work such as: Single Wives, Dancing on the Edge, Unpleasant Excitement, Color of Rain, Have I Become Your Enemy, STILL, and two short films: Matters of the Heart and Wear Black.

Audience viewers have witnessed her work in various venues and states such as: Harris-Stowe State University (St. Louis, MO), Missouri Black History Museum (St. Louis, MO), Southern Illinois University (Edwardsville, IL) Southwestern Illinois College (Belleville, IL), and University of Missouri-St. Louis (Missouri) to name a few. Aside from experiencing good success, SRD has also experienced its share of challenges causing her to take unplanned hiatus' beginning with the loss of her two parents (Willie and Mary Wright) to cancer.

Following her loss, it took many years to regain her motivation. As life would have it, she later relocated to Central Texas in 2018 and planned to return to her position as a Theatre Practitioner. Unfortunately, that plan along with the rest of the world was placed on "pause" after being hit with the untimely interruption of a pandemic coined as COVID 19.

As a Licensed and Ordained Evangelist, she leaves nothing to coincidence, but rather believes that everything happens just as and when it should.

ALL NEW!
Fast-forwarding to 2023, Ms. Sherry and her team are returning to the arts in theatre and film bigger, and better than ever before. Realizing that her latter is greater than her former days, SRD is returning under its new name "SRD HoLywood Productions, LLC" in a new state and is ready to change the trajectory of lives with its positive and inspirational productions.

SRD is very intentional about creating stronger families and communities. Its presentation on real life, controversial and emotionally-draining situations often show how faith is challenged when life happens. The power of using the reality of life's moral hazards played out on stage culminates a true demonstration of the Centerpiece of Love, which ultimately and positively affect lives both on and off the stage.

SRD is branding itself in advance for its debut performance that is set to premiere in the 1st quarter of 2025.  SRD HoLywood Productions, LLC can be found in the 2023 February/March (page 47) and August/September (page 56) issues of the Tex Appeal Magazine with a distribution of 30,000 copies in print in Central Texas (CTX). You can pick up a copy in Wal-Mart and HEB in the Temple, Belton, Harker Heights, and Killeen areas.  To create more visibility SRD expects to make other headline appearances in the future before its premiere show.

Local talent can expect information to circulate regarding Auditions for an opportunity to perform in one of the upcoming productions. With SRD, artists can expect to cultivate their gifts and grow personal audiences in the process.

To audition, artists should come prepared with a nice photo (if available), and 1-2 "memorized" monologues.

To learn more about "HOW TO" Audition visit the FAQ Section of our website.

Tentatively speaking, SRD expects to run Auditions in November & December 2024 for its first showing in TEXAS. The audition announcement and notice will list Character Names, Role Descriptions, Production Dates and Location(s).

STILL is a story about the business of relationships and a happy-go-lucky couple who experience a major disappointment. When life happens it often comes without constraints and is a recipe for toxic behavior. Unexpected shifts in life can cause one to act out of character and display misplaced anger. Attacking friends and loved ones is a symptom of the pain suffered. Will those on the receiving end allow grace to abound and ignore opportunities to pass judgment?

The leader's of "True Light House of Prayer" Talk About Divine Disruptions

A Divine Disruption will never choose from a pool of volunteers.  It will never RSVP to attend the events in your life.  What's more astounding, it will never arrive with options.

Instead, Divine Disruptions are disruptive manifestations of God. They are faith-shaking life experiences and appropriately defined as "hardships". Without notice, they appear as an unexpected guest in the university of your mind. Once chosen, your faith is placed on trial and pushed to the limit. You have no choice but to ride the waves.

The unapproved journey is one that you must face head-on... no turning back - point, blank, period! All-in-all, you become an unwilling participant of change that develops and births a new norm for living.

To learn more, listen to this story on Divine Disruption expressed by Apostle Jimmy L. Smith and Elect Lady Virginia Smith of True Light House of Prayer where they discuss the rebuilding of their church after it was strategically destroyed by a violent storm that left the church flooded in thousands of dollars in damages.
First time author, LaTonia Henderson talks about her new book on domestic violence.  This book speaks to both women and men.  Red flags are set in place by God for a reason; pay attention to the signs.

Wow, this was the first article ever written on me. The interview took place during rehearsal for my play called "Unpleasant Excitement". There are other articles floating around out there and I hope to find and share later, but relocating has caused me to misplace them. We were actively in rehearsal when Jason Bailey, a Staff Writer for the St. Louis Argus Newspaper walked in to interview me. As a new playwright, I was blown away. Since I did not know he was coming I was not prepared to take a picture so we got this mugshot instead (lol). The article has a couple tiny errors and he forgot to mention my mother - nonetheless, I felt honored to have this experience. Overall, I was more than grateful for the recognition of my work.
